In Bloom

Bloomsbury is an area in London unique for its squares and green spaces. Back in the 17th and 18th centuries they formed key landmarks in defining Bloomsbury as a highly fashionable, residential estate.

This piece works with a variety of sources including written material, citations, photographs, maps and illustrations; a research project that delves into the unique stories and characteristics hidden within the Bloomsbury's squares and gardens.

Japanese hand bound, using over 11 types of paper and experimental folding, my postgraduate final piece aims to evoke a sense of place and exploration through play on translucency and texture, and brings together my interest in objects, wayfinding, maps and story telling.
